Activities at CHPC

Clarendon Hill Church is a busy place, and there are a lot of activities taking place during the week, everything from yoga instruction to a writing group and book discussions.  The following is a partial list of some of our regular activities.  See our home page or current newsletter for exact dates.

Yoga instruction

Come join our small, half-hour class to practice mindful breathing and gentle yoga postures. Great for stress release, improved flexibility and strength.  We meet every other Sunday at 12:15.

Book group / Bible study

There has been a simmering desire for more bible study opportunities at CHPC. The book group of the past few years is now a bible study.  Although meant to be more about listening for God's voice through the gospel, we will certainly also be ready to look at issues of interpretation and history. If you have been looking for something like this you are invited to join us.

Adult education

Join us this Lenten season as we explore the historical and spiritual significance of the person of Jesus Christ. All are welcome; all that is asked is that you come with an open mind and an inquiring heart. We will be using as a guide Marcus Borg and N.T. Wright’s book, “The Meaning of Jesus, “ which is available for purchase through the church. We will begin on Sunday, February 10th, after coffee hour, and meet again on Sunday, February 24th.

Horizons Bible Study

A once monthly bible study for women using the 2007-2008 Horizons Bible Study: Above and Beyond - Hearing God's Call in Jonah and Ruth, published by Presbyterian Women.   More information:  Gusti Newquist <gusti_newquist@yahoo.com> or call 617-625-4823.

Young Adult Group

This group meets the last Friday of the month for informal activies... dinner, nights on the town, and other fun activies.

Writing Group at Clarendon Hill

The writing group meets monthly. Please join us!! We will begin with a group check-in, move through 1-2 writing exercises, share as we feel moved, and finish with a group check-out. We are open to everyone, regardless of previous writing experience and will tailor each session to the needs and interests of those who show up.  More information:  Gusti Newquist <gusti_newquist@yahoo.com> or call 617-625-4823.

CHPC Activities Email List

We all know that there is more to life than work, study and worship, so we invite you to kick back with us for some fun and relaxing social activies ranging from kayaking to informal nights on the town.

Please consider sigining up for our activites email list.  Once you're on this list, we'll let you know about upcoming parties, dinners, concerts and sporting events that CHPC people will be hosting or attending.  You can also invite others to your own activities, whether it be a game of bridge at your place or a pizza run in Davis Square.  We'll keep your email address confidential, we won't bombard you with lots of messages, and we'll keep spamers off the list.  You'll be able to remove your name from the list whenever you like.
